A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of emotional and behavioral illnesses based on the medical model. As such, we treat a wide spectrum of disorders and specialize in adolescent and general adult (17 years and older) . This spectrum includes:
- Affective/mood disorders, such as bipolar spectrum disorders and depression
- Anxiety disorders, for example PTSD, OCD, GAD, and panic disorders
With your consent, we strive to coordinate your care with your primary care physician and other specialists you may be seeing to maximize your overall health and well being. Often, we may recommend additional support, such as a professional therapist or a support group, to complement your medication management. We also welcome input from family members and others should you express interest in supportive involvement. Further, we do not accept workmen's comp or time-off-work cases. We believe this to be a conflict of interest and counter-therapeutic. Such cases are better handled by an objective third party who is not involved in your mental health treatment.
